DAY THIRTY-SEVEN

    The greatest love

The next day, Jesus was arrested, even though he had done nothing wrong. He was nailed to a cross, and he died. It was the saddest day. Even the sky went dark. His friends cried and cried.

But here is what you need to know. Nobody took the life of Jesus from him. He gave it. He chose the cross because he loves us more than we can measure. He took the punishment for all the wrong things we do, so that we could be forgiven and live with God forever.

Even while it was happening, Jesus kept on loving. Father, forgive them, he prayed. That is the greatest love in the history of the world. And the story was not over. Hold on for tomorrow.

God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not be lost, but will live forever with God.
