DAY THIRTY-SIX

    The King with a towel

On the night before he died, Jesus shared a special dinner with his disciples. Then he did something shocking. He got up, tied a towel around his waist, poured water into a bowl, and began washing the dirty feet of his disciples. That was the job of the lowest servant in the house.

Peter tried to stop him. Lord, you should not be washing my feet! But Jesus finished every single foot, sat back down, and said, I have given you an example. Do for each other what I have done for you.

The greatest one in the room became the helper of everyone. In the kingdom of God, that is what greatness looks like. Not being served, but serving.

I have given you an example. Do for one another what I have done for you.

    John 13:15
