He is risen!

Early on Sunday morning, some women walked to the tomb where Jesus was buried, feeling so sad. But when they arrived, the giant stone was rolled away. An angel, shining like lightning, said, Do not be afraid. Jesus is not here. He has risen, just as he said!

The women ran to tell the others, their hearts pounding with fear and joy at the same time. And then Jesus himself met them on the road. Alive! They fell down and worshiped him.

Jesus is alive. Death could not hold him. That is why we celebrate Easter, and it is why friends of Jesus can have hope even on the saddest days. The worst day in history turned into the best one. With Jesus, sad is never the end of the story.

He is not here. He has risen, just as he said!
