DAY THIRTY

    Zacchaeus comes down

Zacchaeus collected taxes and cheated people out of their money, so nobody in town liked him. He was also short. When Jesus came through, Zacchaeus could not see over the crowd, so he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree.

Jesus stopped right under that tree, looked up, and called him by name. Zacchaeus, hurry and come down. I am coming to your house today. The crowd grumbled, He is eating with a cheater! But that day, the heart of Zacchaeus changed. He gave half his money to the poor and paid back everyone he had cheated, four times over.

Jesus sees the people everyone else avoids, and he knows them by name. And when Jesus comes close, hearts change.

Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, because I must stay at your house today.
