Be a Servant of All
Whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be your slave, just as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many.
Matthew 20:26-28
James and John had just requested the thrones beside Jesus, and the other ten were furious, mostly that they had not asked first. Jesus redefined greatness for all twelve.
Jesus does not rebuke the desire to be great. He reroutes it: greatness in his kingdom is measured in service delivered, not service received, and he sealed the definition with his own life, which came not to be served but to serve.
Find the task this week that is beneath your position and do it well, without announcing it. The towel, not the title, is the kingdom's insignia.
