Lost and Found

    The Lost Sheep

Which one of you, having a hundred sheep and losing one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness and go after the one that is lost until he finds it? And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders and rejoices. And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep.' Just so, I tell you, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.

    Luke 15:4-7

Religious leaders were muttering that Jesus ate with sinners. All three lost-and-found parables are his answer to that complaint.

Heaven's math is not ours. One lost soul moves God to leave the many and search until, not in case, he finds. And the finding ends in joy carried home on his own shoulders, not in a lecture.

If you are the one, stop hiding. He is not coming to scold you. And if you are among the ninety and nine, learn to celebrate returns instead of resenting the attention they get.
