The Lost Coin
Or what woman having ten silver coins, if she loses one of them, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? And when she has found it, she calls together her friends and neighbors, saying, 'Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.' Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.
Luke 15:8-10
The coin was likely a day's wage, possibly part of a woman's dowry, precious beyond its price. Homes were dark, with dirt floors. Finding it took light, effort, and refusal to quit.
The sheep wandered off, but the coin was simply lost, unaware it was even missing. God searches for those people too, lighting lamps and sweeping corners for souls who do not know their own worth.
You may feel like a coin in the dust, forgotten and out of circulation. You are being searched for right now. And when God asks you to help him sweep for someone else, pick up the broom.
