DAY TWENTY-EIGHT

    Jesus calms the storm

One evening Jesus and his friends sailed across the lake. Jesus fell asleep on a cushion in the back of the boat. Then a wild storm blew in. Waves crashed over the sides, and the boat began filling with water. The disciples were terrified. They shook Jesus awake, shouting, Teacher, do you not care that we are sinking?

Jesus stood up and spoke to the storm. Quiet. Be still. Instantly the wind stopped, and the water went flat and calm. The disciples whispered to each other, Even the wind and the waves obey him.

Storms come to everyone. Scary nights, scary news, scary feelings. But Jesus is never asleep on the job, and he is never worried. The one who is with you is stronger than any storm.

Jesus stood up and said to the wind and the waves, Quiet! Be still! And everything became completely calm.
