What is The Jesus 40?
The Jesus 40 is a free 40-day journey through the teachings of Jesus in the four gospels. One short reading each day, delivered by email or read here on the site. The goal is simple: to help you live and love like Jesus.
Is it really free?
Yes. Free forever, with nothing to buy and nothing to upgrade to. This is grounded in what Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 10:8: freely you have received, freely give.
Do I need to be religious or go to church?
No. The Jesus 40 was built for anyone curious about what Jesus actually taught, whether you have been following him for decades or have never opened a gospel. There is nothing to join and no background assumed.
Is this tied to a particular denomination?
No. The Jesus 40 is non-denominational and stays close to the text itself. It does not take positions on denominational debates and does not build on any outside theological framework. What you get is what Jesus said, in context, with room to respond.
How long does each day take?
Most days take five to ten minutes to read. What you do with the rest of the day is where the real work happens.
What Bible translation do you use?
The New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition, chosen for accuracy and readability.
Do I have to sign up for emails?
No. Every one of the 40 days is available to read on this site at any time. The email version simply keeps you on pace, arriving each morning so you do not have to remember.
What if I miss a day?
Pick up where you left off. This is not a streak to protect or a challenge to fail. If you fall behind, you are still on the journey.
Can I do the 40 days more than once?
Yes, and many people will want to. The teachings do not run out. Coming back to them in a different season of life tends to surface things you did not see the first time.
What happens after Day 40?

Is there something for children?
Yes. The Jesus 40 for Kids is a set of 40 lessons written for younger readers, designed to be read together by a parent and child.
