The yes that counts

Jesus told a story about a dad with two sons. He asked both of them to go work in the vineyard. The first son said, No, I will not. But later he felt sorry, changed his mind, and went and did the work. The second son said, Yes sir, right away! But he never went at all.

Jesus asked, Which son did what his father wanted? Everyone knew the answer. The one who actually went.

Saying the right words is easy. Doing them is what counts. Jesus does not want us to just talk about love and kindness. He wants us to live it. That is the whole secret of these 40 days. Do his words, and you will discover they are true.

Which of the two sons did what his father wanted? The one who went and did the work.
